Vegetarian Recipes: Vegan Lamb (Vamb)

Vegan Lamb (Vamb)
Vegetarianism is simply the philosophy and lifestyle where one refrains from eating meat, poultry, and fish. Sometimes vegetarians will include dairy, eggs, and honey (lacto-ovo). Some vegetarians may exclude eggs, but include dairy and honey (lacto) or exclude dairy, but include eggs and honey (ovo). Then, of course you have those that refrain from consuming not only meat, poultry, and fish; but eggs, dairy, and honey (vegan).

Recently, in the kitchen I found myself experimenting with an array of ingredients, as well as, herbs and spices. In my quest to make something "unique" that not only tasted great, but was different than my usual creations. And in my quest of doing this, I discovered how mimic the flavor of lamb using quite a few ingredients, which include:

2 oz. Lightlife's Gimme Lean Beef (or one pack)

2 cups of Almond Milk (unsweetened)

1 cup of Green Onions
8 tbsp. (or 1/2 cup) of Lemon Juice (Natural)

5 tbsp. (or 1/3 cup) of Olive Oil (Extra Virgin, i.e.)

4 tbsp. (or 1/4 cup) of Black Pepper

4 tbsp. (or 1/4 cup) of Kosher Salt

4 tbsp. (or 1/4 cup) of Cardamom

3 tbsp. (or 1/8 cup) of Nutmeg

3 tbsp. (or 1/8 cup) of Cinnamon

1 tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tbsp. of Mint

1 tbsp. of Ginger

2 tsp. of Golpar

2 tsp. of Clove

1 tsp. of Dill

1 tsp. of Turmeric

1 tsp. of Sumac
Although it is easy to make your own protein base, I chose to use Lightlife's Gimme Lean Beef because it is not only vegan, but GMO-free, as well. It is also naturally cholesterol-free and possesses an unique flavor that isn't robust or overpowering with spice. If you are allergic to soy or are following a gluten-free diet, I recommend making your own protein base using almonds, coconut, or peas substitutions. Also, keep in mind that every ingredient used in this recipe can be substituted in case you suffer from any allergy.

First and foremost, you want to prepare your vegetarian protein source. In this recipe, I am using Lightlife's Gimme Lean Beef. Whether you want to make burgers or balls is entirely up to you, however; you want to make sure that you have all of the right flavor fusions or your "vamb" will not turn out.

In a small pan, you want to add your almond milk. If you suffer from any nut allergies, I recommend soy, coconut, rice, or hemp milk. You want to add both cups followed by your lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Then, as you continue, I want you to add your cardamom, oil, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vinegar. Do not add the green onions. It is key to cook this on medium heat.

Add the burgers and/or balls. In this recipe, I am going to make simple vamb meatballs, simply because they are fun to execute in terms of simplicity. Add the rest of your ingredients and remove from heat. As it cools, you want to cover up the pan and place it into the refrigerator overnight.

After the vegetarian meat has soaked in those spices, you want to create add them to a new pan. When you look at the vamb, do you notice that it is dark in color and rich in texture? If so, you are ready to go. If not, you should repeat the above in moderation. Now when it comes to cooking the vamb, whether you want to season the pan is entirely up to you, however; I really enjoy using vegan butter such as Earth Balance or olive oil to fry the vamb on the stove top. I highly recommend cooking on medium-to-high heat for the first few minutes before removing the high heat and cooking solely on medium.

As you continue, you want to add your green onions or any other vegetable you choose. I chose green onions because they are subtle in flavor and balance this dish out. When you are frying your vamb, it is key that the edges look relatively dark, but not burnt nor black. If you are making balls, do not hesitate to cut into one as you are cooking and taste it, just to see if the flavors used were executed.

Congratulations you have just made vegan lamb aka vamb!

Album Reviews: Our Revolution by Rog & Pip

Rog & Pip are pioneers in the freakbeat genre. As former members of the Sorrows, this dynamic duo has such a strong impact on the psychedelic and glam rock revolution. Rog & Pip released a new album entitled 'Our Revolution' which includes a special collection of unreleased tunes. Recently, I had the chance to hear it. What did I think?

To kick off Our Revolution, the first track is Why Won't You Do What I Want? This uptempo song is quite exciting. It reminds me of Heartache Tonight meets Cherokee People, but more exhilarating. I am loving everything from the strong beat, the story itself, and the lyrical delivery. Definitely a good tune to start the album off.

I am loving the guitar parts in My Revolution, which is the second song on the album. This song reminds me of a British Invasion redux, as this tune embodies bona-fide freakbeat. I am loving the strong beat in this song. This song makes me think of an era that I never got to experience.

Some of the best songs I have ever heard are from decades that I never lived in. The song Rock With Me really makes me think of a time that I wish I did. I am loving the story, as well as, phrasing in this song.
When I first hear Evil Hearted Woman, I am reminded of American Woman at first. The beginning is quite strong, which I love. The guitar riffs are excellent in this Rog & Pip addition. This tune is classic British rock at it's finest. "Evil hearted woman, evil hearted woman".

I am loving the trills in the beginning of Gold. It is a strong ballad, which so many psychedellic accents. You have to love this song. I have to be honest, based on instrumental arrangements alone, this is one of the strongest songs on the album.

I am loving the track, Doin' Alright Tonight. For some reason, I am reminded me of Boston when I first heard this song. The rock is quite hard, but yet progressive. I definitely can hear the freakbeat come to life in this tune.

Out of all of the songs, I found myself really impressed with A Little Rock 'N' Roll. It's one of the most exciting songs I have heard yet. I cannot help, but dance and head bang to this tune. The lyrics, the story, the voice, the melody, the harmony, the delivery, yeah. I love everything about this song.

The song Hot Rodder reminds me of a Beatles redux. This song truly epitomizes what the British rock invasion is all about. The song is quite catchy and really something to not only love, but appreciate.

I really love It's A Lonely World. It is a strong ballad that tells a story, a very sad story. It's quite sad actually. The chorus is quite haunting. Almost melodious. I love the guitar solo in this song too. This song is one of my favorites I have heard yet on the album, if not my favorite.

Our Revolution is quite a good album so far and Why Do You Treat Me Like That? proves it. This uptempo is quite strong. I love the lyrics in this song. I am reminded me of Deep Purple meets My Bloody Valentine a lot in this tune. "Why do you treat me like? Why do you treat me like that?"

This album truly does take you to another place. The freakbeat is so evident in every tune and From A Window is just more proof of that. The song is angry yet uplifting, making it an exciting tune. Even though it isn't one of my favorite songs on the album, it is saved by the excellent guitar solo in the middle of the tune.
The final track is Warlord. It is quite exciting and in terms of beat, it reminds me Evil Hearted Woman. The story is quite deep and I am loving the lyrical delivery in this tune. Not sure if this is my favorite song on the album, but needless to say it's great.

Rog & Pip's Our Revolution is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, June 24th. Would I purchase this album? Absolutely. Would I recommend this album to a friend? Yes, but only if they are into British rock. This album really delivers freakbeat at it's finest, so be prepared. Interview with AJ Jung about Morgan Ingram

Recently, Joe and I were approached by a friend of Morgan Ingram's for an exclusive interview where we both discuss Morgan Ingram and our stance on the case, as well as, the harassment we have endured by Mayra Martinez of Eugene, Oregon (or MayraMM) and Michael Odegard of Portland, Oregon because of our support for Toni Ingram, a mother who tragically lost her daughter to murder in Winter of 2011.

We also expose the connection between Tricia Griffith of Websleuths, Mike Boudet of Sword and Scale and their involvement with unregistered sex offender, Terry Cavitalo aka Terry Stipp who is involved with Mayra Martinez in the libel against Toni Ingram and myself, Sarah Afshar, for supporting the homicide theory.

Thank you Andrew Jung for allowing us to use our voices for the right reason and exposing the untruths created by these people who refuse to see the truth let alone look at the facts. I will continue to support Mrs. Ingram, as I believe Morgan Ingram was stalked and murdered by Keenan Vanginkel, the man stalking her.
