Exclusive interview with 8ky 6lu, The Party President

Although he is best known for being part of the dynamic duo LMFAO as Sky Blu, where the duo was most famous for their Party Rock Anthem (the third best-selling digital song in US history for 2011), he is also the grandson of Motown founder, Berry Gordy, Jr. What you don't realize is he is a genius in the music world on his own and has recently taken his music to the next level as a solo artist with his latest hit "We Love Girls" which he recently performed at Miss World and at the MMA Awards. 

It is now 2015, a new dawn, a new day, and a brand new year and there is so much to come, but the question remains: what can we expect from the Party President? Recently, I had the opportunity to talk to 8ky 6lu, the Party President himself about music, MMA, and Missy Elliot. So, what did he have to say? 

(Q) Hello. How are you?

I'm doing fantastic. Thank you.

(Q) First and foremost, I just want to say that I am a big fan of your latest single "We Love Girls." I have to ask, what inspired you to create this song?

Well, you know, that song has actually 4 different, full versions to it. The story of it is pretty interesting because I created it after being inspired by a beat I heard. It was a beat that I haven't heard before. I said to my friends, I just have to create something from this because I really liked it and I knew it would be a lot of fun to put out there. After working on this song, I said to myself "this song is just too good, we just got to produce a full song under it" so then, I went to Amsterdam and worked on the song with a friend there. When looking up the Miss World pageant, my buddy sold them the song. Keep in mind, the song wasn't finished and the guy in Amsterdam had the song. So, when we contacted him, he wasn't answering us back. It was about 2 weeks before we had to turn the song into the Miss World people. So bam, that is when a new version of the song was created. Everybody loved it. About 4 days before the song was due, we still didn't hear from him, so we started everything from scratch. Horn players, etc. We did all of this stuff. So, pretty much what we did in 4 days is what you are hearing and that is what happened.

(Q) That is incredible, wow. In just 4 days? Wow. Going back to Miss World, I have to ask, is it true that the proceeds from this amazing jam go towards the Miss World organization, Beauty With A Purpose?

Absolutely. It is important to give back. I feel like music is such an amazing thing and it creates such an abundance. I feel that this is why I do it. I want my music to help people in every way. The song is "We Love Girls" and I thought it would be great to work with Miss World charity organization because they help so many people. Anything I can do help, I will definitely do it.

(Q) That is amazing. You recently performed at the MMA Awards in Las Vegas. What was it like?

It was really interesting. Most of the time, when you are performing, you are performing for people who come to hear the music. They come to hear the vibe. When I came out there, I felt like fighters. Arms crossed, hardcore fighters. So, I start off my song and I am like looking around and half way through the song, I stop rapping and I start talking to the audience and getting them hyped. By the end, it was just so great. It was such an amazing turn and in the end, we won them over. It was a lot of fun. It was just so great. In fact, after the show, we had a lot of people come up and tell us how much they enjoyed the show.

(Q) I have been taking questions from my blog SarahAfshar.com and "Elaina Maxwell Fan" writes: I am a huge fan of 8ky 6lu, the Party President. He's so incredibly talented and I want to know, who is his favorite MMA fighter and why?

I am a big fan of Anderson Silva, but I also really like Conor McGregor. He's a big, up and coming fighter. I just enjoy him as a showman and I really enjoy his style of fighting. Those are my two top favorites right now.

(Q) They are both fantastic. Ok, going back to the music, I have to ask, what does your new music sound like that you have been working on?

I have the full intention to captivate the world with my music. My music is extremely diverse. I have a lot of amazing things planned. My whole life I have been blessed to work with so many incredible artists. I have picked up little tricks along the way, so I have created a vibe, array of musical sound and energy. What is happening on this project is people will get to experience who I am. They have heard one side of me already. I grew up in LA. I have a lot to share and a lot to express through my music. People are really going to know who Sky Blu is through my music and they will understand why I call myself the Party President.

(Q) Wow, sounds so exciting. I think music fans will have so much to look forward to. I have to say, the new Party President persona is interesting. I noticed that when you do various interviews, you have these men standing behind you. Who are they?

Those are my ragents. They are my party enforcement. They are there to make sure things don't get out of control. They can dance their ass off, I can tell you that. It is the tip of the iceberg right now. People are only seeing a little of the Party President. I have a lot of stuff I am going to release soon which will connect the dots further. Then, there is another step after that and another after that. This is a project that I have been working on for 2 years. People don't understand how big this iceberg is.

(Q) You performed with Madonna a few years ago at the Super Bowl for half-time. What was that like?

It was an amazing experience. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest, if not the biggest sporting event there is. When you think of how many people watch the Super Bowl, both there in the stadium and then at-home. To be a part of that energy was amazing. Those people watching you. The preparation includes 2 weeks of rehearsals for it. Working with Madonna was great. You can see why she is where she is. She's really great and loves what she does. She puts her heart and soul into her performances. I really got inspired by her and her work ethic, as well. (Q) Did you watch the Super Bowl half-time this year? How do you think Katy Perry did?

Katy Perry did a cool job. I would have done something more with Lenny Kravitz, if I were the main performer of the show. To me, though, Missy totally killed it. She was the star of the show. She outshined everybody.

(Q) For all of the fans reading this interview, what would you like them to know? What is next for the Party President?

I want all of my fans to know that the Party President is here to change this world and is here to show people how to really let loose at the party. My goal is to create an atmosphere like no other. I want to have people come to my party. I want people to also have a spiritual, as well as, life changing experiences. It is about the environment. I want to create a musical world for people to live in. Not just a song, not just an album, but a world.
