What is Remdesivir? How will it treat the coronavirus Covid-19?

Remdesivir is an anti-viral medicine used to treat
various illnesses. It is currently in clinical trial
for the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The coronavirus is perhaps the most discussed topic around the globe. Millions of people are being infected daily with this fatal virus which has claimed the lives of thousands of people around the world. I don't know if the accuracy of the statistics being flown around are as accurate as they they claim to be, but it is evident there is so much commotion regarding the Covid-19 strain because there is no cure nor preventative for it.

Recently, when looking at the stock market I discovered an index gaining momentum called GILD which is short for Gilead Sciences Inc. Recently, a lot of press has been shared regarding them. I decided to purchase several shares when the stock was at a low price of $60 per share (or a little more, I think it was like $60.90) and have noticed it continues go up over 12 points and surged over 16% despite the fall of numerous indexes in the NYSE.

Upon reading, I discovered Gilead Sciences is known for creating many different drugs for various illnesses. One drug in particular called Remdesivir, which is an experimental medicine used to treat multiple anti-viruses and illnesses has been the topic of the news lately. This drug has been known to be effective in treating Ebola, MERS, and the SARS-CoV-2 strain. Right now this American biotechnology company is testing Remedesivir on patients infected with the Covid-19 strain of the coronavirus.

What is Remdesivir?

Remdesivir is an experimental anti-viral medicine used to modify or change position of a specific submicroscopic infection within a host of nucleotides. As a result, this causes impetuous termination of the infected Ribonucleic acid (RNA) cell. Nucleotides are the building blocks of both DNA and RNA and are extremely important in our anatomy as a living homo sapien species. Ribose is a natural sugar produced by our bodies. This drug when combined with Ribose derivatives is activated at -108 degrees F and has proved to be effective in treating this problematic health plague which has taken the lives of thousands of Americans alone.

How will Remdesivir treat Covid-19?

Remdesivir metabolizes into an active form in the body, but doesn't necessarily metabolize in your body. As a result, this can actually eliminate RNA production within the body and possibly change the RNA position; however, it is unknown whether this drug can actually do this or at least yet. This experimental drug is currently being used for compassionate use only, as it is still in the testing phase via clinical trial. And because of this, not everyone will be able to utilize this drug nor access it at the present time. When the drug is available for everyone, Gilead Sciences states they will always provide an adequate supply of it which you can read here.

About RNA

Riboncleic acid is made up of the nitrogenous bases adenine, cytosine, guanine, and uracil and a phosphate group. This group possesses the messenger, the mRNA, the rRNA, the tRNA, and the RNA. Unlike DNA which is represented as G-C-A-T, RNA is represented as A-U-G-C. Adenine is primarily used for protein synthesis and binds effectively with the uracil base. Uracil is a weak acid, but this particular base is so important as it is a donor and acceptor and works to stabilize RNA cells. This particular base is known to carry out all cell functions. Cytosine is responsible for multiple cellular processes and binds effectively with guanine. If this particular base is compromised it can form with uracil. Guanine binds with adenine, cytosine, and uracil. This is used in cosmetics to create an iridescent kind of effect to colors. It is responsible for aesthetic makeup and protein metabolism in human beings. Theorists believe guanine was created by aliens, but there are no sources which back up this particular theory as universal.

The coronavirus is taking over the world right now. The best thing you can do is take the proper measures to prevent this virus from invading your life and the life of your loved ones. Washing hands, brushing your teeth, washing your face, washing your hair, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and isolating yourself are great ways to prevent yourself from becoming infected with the coronavirus.

You can check out the latest and greatest studies conducted by Gilead Sciences on the government website National Library of Medicine - Clinical Trials which are updated on a daily basis. Patients with moderate disease, patients with severe disease, the NIAID study, China study in patients with mild/moderate disease, and China study in patients with severe disease

Is Remdesivir the cure for Covid-19? I don't know, but based on the information provided by Gilead Sciences, it is possible. One can only hope. For more information about Remdesivir visit Gilead Sciences Inc. today.

I recently read about this. Thank you for giving a breakdown about RNA. I don’t know much about RNA so it’s great to see some light shed regarding this.

My cousin has the coronavirus and is currently in quarantine. Although she doesn’t have major symptoms, she’s still sick. Hopefully they will make this medicine available soon.

One of many alleged medicines and/or vaccines. I heard of this one. I’m curious is the science lives up to the name.
