March 2018: Beauty Favorites

As the third month of the year, I have discovered quite a few thing news that I really love and enjoy. Some of them being beauty products. For the sake of not boring you with a bunch of words describing how my month went, I will get to my beauty favorites for March 2018 now.

First and foremost, I want to say that I love the PMD Personal Microderm PRO device. As a sporadic sufferer of acne and dry skin, this high-tech skin care device is total godsend to my skin. After using it, I don't even feel the need to throw heavy creams on my face. As my skin is combination, this device really delivers tried and true exfoliation. And the best part is, it doesn't irritate my skin at all. Ever since I started using this device, I don't even feel the need to exfoliate anymore. Although I must say incorporating a face scrub into my regimen isn't a bad thing. This, my friends and readers is fantastic.

Another favorite for the month that I love is the Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte palette. The shades are extremely versatile and virtually adapt to every skin tone. The palette itself features 12 neutral shades that are essential for everyday wear. When I go to the office, I really cannot be extremely glam so I reach for this palette as often as I can. The color pay-off is excellent as the shades are modestly pigmented. Plus, it doesn't contain an array of chemicals including phthalates and sulfates which make me appreciate this palette more.

I love the NUDE Skincare ProGenius Omega Treatment Oil. When I heard that it was being discontinued as the brand itself is merging with BeautyCounter I was surprised, but not shocked as BeautyCounter is a great brand too. This product though is incredible. I don't know what is in this product, but it makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have used so much of it, I am half afraid to touch as the product is discontinued and I don't want to have trouble finding it when it is out. Hopefully BeautyCounter creates a product that is similar.

La Prairie is one of my favorite luxe skincare brands; however, as of late they are proving why they are one of my favorite makeup brands also. The La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation is outstanding. It is not only the perfect coverage, it is buildable, blendable and long-lasting too. It sinks into my skin like a second skin and lasts all day long. The concealer sets fast, but is so easy to work with. It truly complements the foundation. My skin looks literally airbrushed after wearing this. I just love this product so much. It is clearly my favorite for the month.

Other favorites for the month include:

The Japonesque Radiance Primer

Motives Mavens Matte Liquid Lipstick ('She's A Doll' is one of my favorite nude pink shades)Manuka Doctor ApiRefine Lip Enhancer
Grande GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper

Alpha-H Absolute Lip Perfector
L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara

Zayn Malik is one of the most popular superstars in the world. What started as an idea turned into reality for the pop star after auditioning for the X Factor. And most recently, Malik has been blowing up the spotlight with his incredible music including the famous song "Dusk Till Dawn" featuring the talented Sia after parting ways with One Direction. As you are aware, tonight is the 2018 Grammy Awards. And as one of the most talented musicians right now, Malik teamed up with one of the best celebrity groomers in the business, Joanna Simkin who not only did his skin tonight, but hair too. But the question we all want to know, how did she do his hair tonight?

First and foremost, Simkin prepped the star's hair. She started with clean hair which was not only roughly towel-dried, but slightly damp. The celebrity groomer started by applying Baxter of California's Award-Winning Clay Pomade to the reality star turned superstar's hair. Warming up the product between her palms, Simkin started applying a dime-size amount of this product to the back of Malik's head before coating the product.

"If hair is fine, use a blow dryer for some lift. Thick hair can start with damp hair for the same effect," Simkin shared. "It is key to layer the product, as this better than applying too much once," she also added.

Next, Simkin worked her fingers through the star's hair. The beauty of Baxter's of California's Clay Pomade is that once it sets, it isn't too firm so you can create virtually any style you need to.

"If you have random flyways, smooth those with a tiny amount of the pomade," the celebrity groomer shared.

Finally, to complete the hair look, Joanna Simkin applied the Baxter of California Clay Effect Style Spray to hold Zayn Malik's style.

You know him from the world renowned, reality television show the X Factor, as you know him as one of the members from One Direction. And in most recent years, Zayn Malik dipped into the entertainment industry solo with huge hits such as "Dusk Till Dawn" featuring Sia and "Keep On Rising" featuring Avicii. And tonight, he is up for quite a few awards. To prepare him for the awards, celebrity groomer Joanna Simkin prepped the talented star's skin for the red carpet this evening. The question remains; how did she do it?

First and foremost, the celebrity groomer prepped Malik's skin by both washing and exfoliating it before gently patting it. Simkin wanted to leave the reality star turned superstar's skin slightly damp. As she continued, she applied the Baxter of California Under Eye Complex to Malik's under eyes. She started from the under part of the area and worked her way towards the outer part of his eyes, applying light pressure. This worked to de-puff the star's eyes.

Then, Simkin took about a nickel-size amount of the Baxter of California Super Shape Recharge Cream and applied this product directly to Malik's face. Before she applied this product, she rubbed it in her palms to warm it up. Subtly pressing on the star's damp skin, the celebrity groomer treated Malik to a light facial massage to stimulate his skin.

"Leaving the skin damp will help additional moisture lock in and the light massage gets the circulation going to help the skin look more even toned," Simkin shared.

Finally, the celebrity groomer blotted Malik's skin with a tissue leaving his skin looking and feeling more hydrated without grease or shine.
