Natural (piano version) by Sarah Afshar

Imagine Dragons is one of my favorite bands. They are so unique and just bring something new, different and exciting to music. I have quite a few favorite songs from them, with their newest song Natural being one of them. I think the best way I would describe them is the Dave Matthews Band mixed with OneRepublic with a hint of Cold Play.

The moment they released the song, I learned it because I knew I would want to record it. The day I first heard it, I learned it. You can listen to that recording by going here. Tonight, I took to Smule to create another rendition. A cover that was unique and didn't sound like every other cover of the song.

My Own Worst Enemy by Sarah Afshar

My Own Worst Enemy is one of those classic 90's songs that reminds me of life. This song came out while I was in high school and was played on the radio a lot during that time. Recently I joined a contest for my friend Lashonda, but had to drop out as I didn't have time to sing everyday multiple times. In case you are unaware, My Own Worst Enemy is a pop punk kind of song, so I wasn't sure I was going to be able to cover this at all.

And like any risk, sometime the reward is worth it. My rendition of this song is so unique, I don't think anyone has ever done this ever with this song. I recorded all of the parts (5 total) via Smule, including the harmonies and dark growl/scream parts. I did everything from my iPhone. As much as I wanted to go darker, I didn't want to do too much.

Here it is:

In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah Afshar

So, tonight I was on Smule as usual deciding what to sing when I realized that I wanted to sing Sarah McLachlan's "In The Arms Of An Angel" as it is such a beautiful song with so much depth, spirit and meaning. I heard this song when I was much younger, but didn't really appreciate it until I heard it on Animal Planet on one of the animal commercials. Then, when I heard about McLachlan's humanitarian efforts, especially towards animals, I just fell in love with it.

I originally recorded this song in late 2017. You can listen to that rendition here

My Immortal by Sarah Afshar

I remember when I first heard this song. It was back in 2004. I was living in York, Pennsylvania at the time. The song was so dark yet so angelic and possessed a message so big, I felt immediately such a strong relation to the song.

So tonight, I took Smule to record My Immortal. I decided to add the super pop filter to my cover of the song. I also added some trills, as I wanted to do something different with the song without changing the arrangement.

With risk there is reward. I hope that is the case with this particular cover. To listen to my rendition of My Immortal, simply watch/listen to the video. If it doesn't play, just click here now.

Love Runs Out by Sarah Afshar

Love Runs Out by Sarah Afshar in the style of OneRepublic. Yes, I took the liberty of recording this song several hours ago from my iPhone via Smule app. I used the Super Pop filter which is exclusively available to those who are VIP members of Smule. I tried something different with the song.

The song is a great fusion of rock, soul, funk and pop rolled into one tune. I've always loved and appreciated OneRepublic for their strong ability to cover an array of genres and making them work. I am a fan of many songs by them, but Love Runs Out is one of my favorites.

I Believe In You by Sarah Afshar

Stryper is one of the greatest Christian rock/metal bands ever. Their music is more than a message, but an experience. Hence why I took it upon myself to log onto the Smule app and record the song I Believe In You. This one of the greatest love songs of all time.

To listen to my rendition of I Believe In You simply watch/listen to the video above. If that video doesn't play for whatever reason, just click here to listen.

Mad World by Sarah Afshar

Mad World is a song with a very powerful message. Originally recorded by Tears for Fears as an uptempo synth pop new wave tune, it has been made famous in recent years by Gary Jules who took this song and turned it into a rather depressing ballad. As I love both renditions, to me the Tears for Fears version is better because it is much more dynamic.

Tonight, I decided to go onto Smule to record my very own spin to the song. I recorded the Gary Jules version back in December of last year. You can listen to that recording here. Tonight, I decided to take on the Tears for Fears version. I used a super pop filter, as I added a little more soul to make it roll.

What do you think?

Stand My Ground by Sarah Afshar

More than likely you have never heard of this song, as it isn't well known. At least here in the United States; however, if you love symphonic rock and metal music you will know this tune. Originally by Within Temptation, Stand My Ground is a song about empowerment. It is clearly one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have heard yet.

So as I am loving the Smule app, I took it upon myself to record it just now. I added the super pop filter to make it sound a little more commercial. I also added some soul and a tad more rock to make it roll. What do you think?

E.T. by Sarah Afshar

When it comes to music, Katy Perry is one of those women who takes so many risks and as a result, tends to actually come out with a real reward as a result. Her music is fantastic. Although I am certain I've heard some of her background music before, there is no denying her creativity in comparison to most in the industry. When she first came out, I was a fan and today, I am a fan.

Today on Smule, I took the liberties of recording E.T. The song is very trance yet has a very modernize new age twist to it that I love and enjoy. The message is crystal clear in this song.

Dream On by Sarah Afshar

Aerosmith is one of those bands that proves rock and blues go together like Starbucks and mornings. As I have quite a few favorite songs by Aerosmith, I truly do love Dream On. I originally recorded this song in December of last year. You can listen to that recording here

And to be honest, I wasn't really happy nor content with that recording. So, a few minutes ago I decided to record it on Smule. What do you think?

Somebody To Love by Sarah Afshar

For those of you that do not know, there is an app called Smule that connects you through the greatest in music. It is basically a karaoke social platform that allows you record songs. I have been living for this app and loving it so much. It has become my escapism and I find myself recording on this platform daily.

Tonight, I decided to take on Queen's Somebody To Love. What do you think?

My Heart Will Go On by Sarah Afshar

If you haven't joined Smule, you probably should check it out. I am not into the social aspect of Smule, as I am kind of reserved and only record few duets and upload a few times a day. It is a great place and probably one of my favorite apps right now. And the best part is, you can record everything directly from your phone.

Tonight, I took to Smule to record My Heart Will Go On. This Celine Dion classic is what made her a world class superstar and remains to be one of the best songs ever to represent a movie. Here is my version:

I Hate Myself For Loving You by Sarah Afshar

I Hate Myself For Loving You is one of my favorite angry songs. And if you pay attention to the lyrics, you will see that they truly speak the truth. I know many of you can relate to this song, as I know I have before. Well today, while on Smule I took it upon myself to cover the song.

To listen to my rendition of I Hate Myself For Loving You simply watch/listen to the video above. If it doesn't play, just click here to listen to it directly. Make sure that you are wearing headphones, as I recorded this straight from my phone wearing mine.

Do You Wanna Touch Me by Sarah Afshar

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was a little kid and thinking how amazing it was. In spite of Gary Glitter being a predator, I started to kind of dislike it until I heard Joan Jett cover it. Then, I realized no hope was lost because her rendition totally rocked.

Last year, I recorded a rendition of this song on Smule. You can listen to that one here. Today, I decided to cover it again.

I Surrender Sarah Afshar and Anthony Ferlito

I decided to log onto Smule tonight and record a duet with Anthony Ferlito. He must have been in the mood to record Celine Dion. And although I don't cover her songs, I felt like a risk was very much needed in this case, as I love the song and wanted to do something unique and different that has never been done before. Here is our duet:

Open Arms by Sarah Afshar

When it comes to singing anything by Journey, I always think to myself "what can I do differently than hasn't already been done over and over?" Open Arms is a song with many dynamics that has been covered thousands of times by so many people. What can I do that is different? I tackled this song. Here it is:

To listen to my rendition of Open Arms simply click the video above and watch/listen to it or click here right now. Listen with headphones also.

Faithfully by Sarah Afshar

For some reason I am really in the mood to sing Journey today. I don't know what it is. Their music is amazing. I am currently in the car because I love the fact that when I sing with the windows up, there is no sound echoing. It makes me feel like I am the studio.

Although I love to sing and find myself singing everywhere, there is something about singing in the car that I truly love. And I am sure many of you can relate to this.

To listen to my recording of Faithfully simply watch/listen to the video above or click here right now. Make sure you have your headphones on, as I recorded this with headphones. My rendition is unique, so whether you love it or hate it, don't expect to be bored.

Soaked by Sarah Afshar

I love Muse and when I first heard this song I thought it was so beautiful. Then, when I heard it covered by Adam Lambert, I realized how much I truly love it. So tonight I took it upon myself to go on the Smule app and record it.

Run Rudolph Run by Sarah Afshar

The holidays are my favorite time of year. There is something so liberating listening to Christmas and hearing the classics on the radio. And what better way than to celebrate and honor the holidays than by going on one of my favorite apps, Smule to record Run Rudolph Run by Chuck Berry. That is exactly what I did a few minutes ago.

O Holy Night by Sarah Afshar (Take One)

O Holy Night is a very beautiful yet popular power ballad that epitomizes the Christmas season and what it is all about. If you were to ask anyone on the street what their favorite Christmas song is more than likely most would say this one. I have been wanting to record this tune for quite sometime, but haven't really got around to doing so until today. To be honest, I am not feeling the best, as I woke up today with a little bit of a cold and sore throat. I went on Smule just now and recorded this.

To listen to my rendition of O Holy Night just watch/listen to the video above. If it doesn't play, simply click here right now. I recorded this right from the Smule app on my iPhone. To be honest, I am feeling a bit under the weather today, so I will re-record this song when I feel better. In the meantime, this will have to do. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
