RIP Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld
Christopher Adach)
Today the world of fashion, including fashion enthusiasts around the globe have suffered an immense loss as we all say goodbye to one of the greatest designers, Karl Lagerfeld. As the creative director for world-renowned fashion house Chanel, Lagerfeld spent over 35 years with the brand.

Lagerfeld has been sick for quite sometime; however, he managed to check himself into the American Hospital of Paris yesterday. He died today. As the cause of death is unknown, the world remembers one of the greatest fashion visionaries for his contributions to fashion.

The internationally known designer spent several years with Balmain before joining Chloe. As some of his work was ridiculed in the press during the 50s and 60s era, Lagerfeld didn't give up. He jumped immediately into a collaboration with fashion house Fendi shortly after spending several years with both Balmain and Chloe. He continued to work, designing clothing for some of the greatest starlets in cinema including Elizabeth Taylor and even designed theatrical costumes on Broadway. He also created work overseas for an array of brands before finding a home at Chanel, where he remained the creative director from 1983 until his death today.

In addition to working as the creative director for Chanel, Lagerfeld has worked with an array of brands including Diesel, Orrefors, H&M and even Shu Uemura. In fact, I worked with Karl back in 2015 when he collaborated with Shu Uemura. I was a content producer for Examiner at the time. It was a joy working with him, as he was optimistic and always looked forward to doing something new. His beautiful cat Coupette was the main part of the collection he did with Shu Uemura. I still have the amazing eye shadow palette as well as the lip glosses he sent me.

"I am a fashion person and fashion is not about clothes - it's about all kinds of change." Karl Lagerfeld

Rest in Peace.

Get the makeup look: Rodarte at LA FW19

Show for Spring 2019.

Rodarte's latest collection for Spring 2019 was all glitz and glam. Taking you through a trendy 1930s burlesque meets glitter glam swing, the brand really brought so much to this collection. And although I am not sure I would think this were a Spring collection if I examined the pieces for the first time, I definitely believe it has serious potential for those fashion enthusiasts who are de rigueur and want to wear something that looks like it was produced with inspiration through five decades.

And as much as I liked the pieces for this collection from Rodarte, what really stood out to me was the makeup. Compliments of NARS Cosmetics, James Kaliardos is the man behind the makeup at today's show.

"The makeup for this show was inspired by the vibrant glitter from classic Hollywood musicals," makeup artist James Kaliardos shared.

So, is it possible to recreate this look at home? Absolutely.

First and foremost, Kaliardos prepped the models' skin. He went with the NARS NARSskin Multi-Action Hydrating Toner followed by the NARS NARSskin Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer. He continued prepping the face using the NARS NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream and the NARS NARSskin Total Replenishing Eye Cream.

Continuing with the face portion of the look, the makeup artist went with the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation followed by the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. He finished the face off with the NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder.

The makeup artist went with four looks for the show. The clean look, the red look, the berry look and the pink look which all utilized different products.

For the clean look, Kaliardos went with the NARS Fireclay Mosaic Blush for the eyes, the NARS Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm for the lips and the NARS Fireclay Mosaic Blush for the cheeks. He also used the NARS Brow Perfector on the eyebrows.

For the red look, the makeup artist used the NARS Don't Stop PowerMatte Lip Pigment followed by glitter on the eyes. He, then, used the NARS Jungle Red Lip Liner Pencil on the lips followed by the NARS Don't Stop PowerMatte Lip Pigment. He finished the lips with glitter. To complete the look he used the NARS Fireclay Mosaic Blush on the cheeks and the NARS Brow Perfector on the eyebrows.

For the berry look, James Kaliardos went with the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Janet for the eyes followed by the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Fanny. Then, he went with the NARS Eyeshadow in Domination followed by glitter. For the lips he repeated the same process he used on the eyes. To finish the look, he used NARS Fireclay Mosaic Blush on the cheeks and NARS Brow Perfector on the eyebrows.

For the pink look, the internationally known makeup artist went with the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Claudia for the eyes followed by glitter. He continued with the lips using the same products, the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Claudia before finishing it off with glitter. To finish the pink look, Kaliardos used the NARS Fireclay Mosaic Blush on the cheeks and the NARS Brow Perfector on the eyebrows.

Congratulations! You have just recreated the makeup look for the Rodarte LA Fashion Week 2019 Spring show.

Get the Hair: Kate Spade NYFW Fall 2019

Backstage at the 2019 Kate Spade
show at NYFW
for Fall 2019.
As New York City was a rather gloomy day today, what really spiced up the big apple was Kate Spade's newest fall collection. Everything from the unique styles as well as use of prints, it is everything that is expected from a Kate Spade collection. Fun and fabulous was definitely brought into creation of this collection. And earlier this evening, Kate Spade proved why she was truly an iconic woman of fashion as she was clearly a woman with a vision, a vision that will last a lifetime in the world of fashion.

Although the styles were fantastic, the makeup looked great. However, it was the hair which really complemented the models, the style and in short - brought the designs to life. Compliments of Odile Gilbert, the TRESemmé NYFW Stylist, the hair was the real winner of the show. And for several years now, TRESemmé has been the official hair sponsor of the biggest fashion event in NYC.

So, is it possible to re-create this hair look at home? Absolutely.

First and foremost, the TRESemmé NYFW Stylist started by washing the models' hair with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo and TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Conditioner. She wanted to create a very sleek yet smooth foundation, hence why she chose these two terrific TRESemmé additions.

Next, Gilbert parted the models' hair. She applied the TRESemmé Thermal Creations Blow Dry Accelerator Spray shortly before taking a round brush and fully blowing out the hair. She continued by pulling the hair directly down, as her goal for this hair look was to create individual sections, giving the models for the Kate Spade show a very sleep and smooth appearance.

As she continued, she applied the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray to simply protect the hair and prevent damage. Taking a large curling iron courtesy of ghd, the celebrity stylist gently wrapped the ends of the hair inward just before letting go, creating a soft curl. This added extra bounce and body to the models' hair.

To finish the look, Odile Gilbert sprayed the TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hold Level 4 Hairspray to the models hair.

“To get this polished and sophisticated look, blow dry the hair straight and then use a curling iron to tuck the ends of the hair inwards, creating a smooth and chic finish. Lock the look in with the TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hold Level 4 Hairspray,” Gilbert shared.

As she lightly misted their hair, the celebrity stylist mentioned that she did this because she wanted to add a glossy finish to the hair and to keep the hair in place without the stiffness that most hair sprays tend to create.

Kate Spade was a world-renowned designer who created a $2.5 billion fashion empire directly from her NYC apartment. And although she is gone, she will never be forgotten as her legacy will remain forever. RIP Kate (1962-2018) #NYFW

Asics GEL-Flux Running Shoes

I am really loving my Asics GEL-Flux Running shoes. They are not only comfortable, but they last a long time. Never have I ever discovered a pair of sneakers with such long-lasting wear to them like these.

The quality of these shoes are my favorite. I have owned virtually every brand under the sun (Nike, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance, K-Swiss, etc.) yet I find myself relentlessly wearing Asics the most.

Today, I am working out and once again, I find myself really appreciating my Asics. They curve to fit your entire foot, which I enjoy. I also love how they add extra cushion towards the heel of the foot. This is so vital when wearing any kind of shoe, especially a running shoe. The toe area of these shoes give you extra room yet still possess that much needed snug.

I have yet to find a running shoe that possesses the quality that these shoes do. I really love the fact that they are so comfortable and really provide my feet with extra added benefits including supreme comfort and shock absorption. The support system is unreal. Especially if you are active and are searching for that spectacular shoe.

Whether you love to workout, walk, run or have fun in the sun, the Asics GEL-Flux Running shoes are definitely the best pair of shoes you can own.

February 2018: Life Update

I know what you are thinking. I have been a bad blogger. I haven't kept you in the loop nor updated with my life. We are in the year of 2018. I really believe time flies, as I am finding myself embracing Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity in more ways than one. As content as I am at the moment, I feel like my life lacks something. And that "something" is something I need to figure out.

I have been working the same job I have been doing since 2015. I am loving this job; however, I feel like my work load has increased more over the years. I have recently discovered that multitasking is the key to success, as working effectively and efficiently is extremely crucial. I am hoping to take on another job in addition to my current, full-time position as I could use the extra money for present and future endeavors.

Early last month, my friend Angela Spicer died. I met her in 2009 at a casino when I lived in Dillon, Montana. We became great friends, but lost touch over the years. On January 12th she was found dead in Elko, Nevada. She was sleeping in the back of her car and was found hours later by law enforcement. They investigated her death and determined it was a suicide. Angela had a history of this; however, I believe it was a combination of stress, not eating and diabetes which exacerbated this. When I found out she died I was very sad. She was just 35 years old.

A lot of you have emailed me asking about Joe. Joe and I decided to break up in late 2016. We have remained great friends since. He has been there for me through a lot that has happened including the death of my dear cat Murphy in 2017. Not to mention my ongoing support of president Donald Trump, who he also supports. I have no further comment in regards to this. I have known Joe for over 20 years and have no hate in my heart for him. I talked to him a few days ago about his music.

Some of you asked what happened to SarahAfsharBeauty (the domain). I decided that I am not interested in using it anymore, as I wanted to add the content from there to this site (or blog). I wanted to bring this up, as quite a few you of asked about the weird redirects from the site. Someone bought the domain and is currently using it to host and sell cars. In fact, when you visit the site you will see this very awkward redirect. It is very bizarre. The domain is selling for thousands of dollars also and was purchased this month. I have no idea who purchased it or who currently owns it, but the domain is no longer associated with me. I've been told a true crime podcaster bought the domain and is using it to buy and sell cars. Almost like an affiliate publishing scam. Either way, the domain is no longer mine.

It is February 9, 2018 and still no justice for the stalking and murder of Morgan Ingram. I feel like Toni Ingram and Steve Ingram are getting robbed by law enforcement. Morgan Ingram deserves justice, as it is very clear she was murdered. Just one look at the autopsy photos and you will be able to see it was a homicide. My heart continues to break as no justice is happening, but I am hoping eventually it will. Will 2018 be the year? Probably not, but only one can hope and pray.

I will do my best to keep you all updated with my life. At least more often than not. Until then, I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Get the makeup look: Noon by Noor at NYFW SS'17

If you are a fashion enthusiast who enjoys the latest and greatest pieces more than likely you are a huge fan of fashion week, as this is the only week where a fashion house and designer can debut their latest and greatest collection. Noon by Noor is a collection that embraces a modernized minimalist appeal that is innocent and clean. As the hair was kept modestly simple, the makeup really complemented the individual designs. The models from the Noon by Noor show teamed up with NARS International Lead Makeup Stylist, Uzo for a soft makeup look.

"Noon by Noor wanted a romantic, but minimal beauty look with the eyes as the focus. The eyes feature clean, precise and graphic white eyeliner, while the rest of the face was kept bare, glossy and healthy-looking with a faint of rose on the cheeks," Uzo shared.

So, is it possible to recreate this makeup look at home? Absolutely.

First and foremost, Uzo prepped the models faces with the NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream followed by the NARSskin Total Replenishing Eye Cream. For this particular look, Uzo applied the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. As this product is new and due to launch in Spring of 2017, an amazing alternative is the NARS Stick Concealer or NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.

As the makeup stylist continued, she applied the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Get Off. As this product is due to launch in Spring 2017, a great alternative is the NARS Sheer Lipstick in Cruising.

The eyes are the primary focus of the look and really bring it to life. For this look, Uzo used and applied the NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Kalahari, the NARS Velvet Eyeliner in Las Pozas, and the NARS Lip Gloss in Triple X. She, then, applied several coats of the NARS Audacious Mascara. For the brows, she used the NARS Brow Gel in Oural and the NARS Brow Defining Cream.

To finish the look, Uzo applied the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Get Off.

Congratulations! You have just recreated the makeup look from the Noon by Noor show for Spring and Summer 2017 at New York Fashion Week. #NYFW

Get the hair look: Misha Nonoo at NYFW SS'17

Misha Nonoo at NYFW for Spring/Summer 2017.
The big apple is quite possibly the most exciting city in the world. And it just got even more exciting this week with the start of New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2017. As one of the hottest events on earth, fashion houses and designers debut their collections for the Spring and Summer season for next year. One of those designers is Misha Nonoo. As unique as the styles are, what made this event really stand out was the grungy tousled tresses of the models. Thanks to New York Fashion Week Ambassador for TRESemme, Chris Naselli was able to create a haute hair look to complement the style.

"Keep your roots matte and apply gloss only to the ends, this will give you naturally looking hair and shine where it matters," Chris Naselli shared in regards to the grungy tousled wave hair look.

So, is it possible to recreate this hair look at home? Absolutely.

First and foremost, Naselli washed the models hair with the TRESemme Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and the TRESemme Botanique Nourish & Replenish Conditioner. As he continued, he applied a few drops of the TRESemme Botanique Damage Recovery Oil Elixir from the mid-shaft of the hair all of the way through the ends.

Then, the TRESemme stylist took his hair dryer and began to rough dry the models' hair. As he continued, he began to part the models' hair in the middle to work in natural texture. He, then, began to pull one inch sections of hair randomly from the crown of the head before using a curling iron to create zig zag bends.

What did he do next? Naselli took his fingertips and began breaking the zig zag sections apart with his fingers before generously spritzing the TRESemme Botanique Nourish & Replenish Hydrating Mist.

To finish the look, Naselli sprayed the TRESemme TRES Extra Firm Control Hairspray.

Congratulations! You have just recreated the hair look at the Misha Nonoo Spring/Summer 2017 show at New York Fashion Week. #NYFW

SUSU Handbags: Baxter Mermaid Fishskin Leather Crossbody Bag

Baxter Mermaid Fishskin Leather
Crossbody Bag
in Beige.
Created by Susu herself, this incredibly talented designer who resides in the heart of the big apple (NYC) and city of angels (LA) has quite the history in the business. Not only has she worked for BCBG Max Azaria, but she's established herself in the fashion scene many years prior to starting her own line of handbags.
Her luxury handbags are amazing, possessing only the finest materials including the greatest quality of leather. They are modern and classic. And depending on the type you get, they can really epitomize your mood.

Recently, it was an honor to be chosen to receive one of her amazing handbags (thank you Susu and eAccountable), the Baxter Mermaid Fishskin Leather Crossbody Bag in Beige which retails for $278. I absolutely love this bag and so far, have received quite a few compliments about it.
Not only does this amazing addition to SUSU Handbags include a genuine dual texture leather, the fishskin pattern makes it look like something you would find in a high-end boutique for thousands of dollars beyond the $278 price tag. The leather is also 100% authentic and quite soft, which I really love. I also love the idea that it's durable in a sense that you can tell it's not the type to wear off.
I also really love this bag because the strap drop is only 21" and it includes an amazing adjustable crossbody strap. This gives you the ability to wear this as a crossbody, as well as, carrying it as an actual handbag. With a width of 10", height of 8", and a depth of 3", this bag is great for carrying quite a few things and a lot bigger than I had originally assumed.
The center strap really adds a lot of definition to this bag along with the pivot metal closure. At first, I was sort of confused by the closure, until I discovered that all you have to do is line up the sides to actually open it.

I really cannot see anyone disinterested in this bag unless you are one who doesn't wear leather. If you are one who doesn't wear leather, you may not find this bag appealing. It is also quite simple too, so if you are interested in something a little more embellished and extravagant this bag may not be you. It is a crossbody style (which I understand, not everyone enjoys) but this bag is extremely versatile and goes with virtually everything.
To grab your SUSU Handbag, simply click here today.

FTC: I received this handbag in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.

Victoria's Secret Shopping: Very Sexy Plumeria Pink

One thing that I love about Victoria's Secret is the fact that they offer such a diversified selection of bra and panty sets and this one is definitely proof of that. The Plumeria Pink is stunning. It's a bright pink that leans towards hot pink and fuchsia with lilac purple accents. Online it was cute when I first looked at it, however, in person it is absolutely gorgeous. The next time you visit Victoria's Secret, I highly recommend checking out the Very Sexy Push-Up Bra in Plumeria Pink along with the matching panty. You may just decide to pick it up. I know that I did.
