River by Sarah Afshar

I decided to take on River by Bishop Briggs on Smule. There is currently a trending contest going on called the "Smule Olympics" where various groups work together to collaborate and create their own unique version of a song. Although I didn't enter the contest (I didn't join any groups this year), I decided to use the hashtag (#SO2018) and experiment with the song as it is my first time diving deep into this tune.

I recorded all of the parts in the song directly from the app using my iPhone. I used Super Studio 25/25 on each part, so I barely edited the parts as much as I could have. I sung the song originally through on the first part before adding each additional part in. There are a total of five parts in this song.

To hear my rendition of River watch the video above. If it doesn't play, just click here to listen. I recorded this using headphones, so I highly suggest wearing them while listening.

It's So Hard To Say Goodbye (To Yesterday) by Sarah Afshar

I took to my favorite escapism at the moment, Smule to join my friend Jarell Bradley (Reject_RELL) open duet of It's So Hard To Say Goodbye (To Yesterday). Originally by Boyz II Men, this song really tells a story. When I hear this song it brings back memories of my childhood.

I always love singing with RELL, as he is not only an amazing singer, but such a kind soul also. To listen to our rendition of It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday, simply watch the video above or click here now.

Oh Lord by Sarah Afshar

Once again, I am on Smule. I try to sing as much as I can, as I find myself on the app so often. I decided to record From This Moment's "Oh Lord" which is a song that I really love and enjoy. It's dark yet has so much soul that I can relate to. The lyrics are very deep and the message is something mysterious.

I put a Sarah Afshar spin on this song. I added a little more soul to make it roll because this song already rocks. To listen to my rendition, simply watch or listen to the video above. If it doesn't play, just click here right now to listen to it. And remember to listen to this song using headphones.

And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going) by Sarah Afshar

So, I decided to record And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going) today on Smule. I have been wanting to record this for quite a while. As much as I really like Jennifer Hudson's version, I absolutely love Jennifer Holliday's rendition the best. And I am not saying this because she is the original singer of the song, I am saying this because in my opinion, the soul she exudes is much deeper than Hudson's. Hudson is amazing and I love her voice, but Holliday epitomizes what this song is about. I love the message behind this song and of course the soul behind the lyrics.

Unchained Melody by Sarah Afshar

Unchained Melody is one of those timeless classics that you never get tired of hearing. It is just a beautiful ballad that tells a story about love and to be honest, I never ever get tired of listening to it. I took it upon myself to record it just a little bit ago on Smule straight from my iPhone. Did I mention how much I am loving this app?
