As the holiday season envelops us in its warm embrace, I find myself reflecting on what makes this time of year so special. At least to me. Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year—a season filled with joy, love, and cherished memories. This year, I’m at Scentsy Commons, basking in the enchanting Christmas lights display that has become a beloved tradition for me since late 2019. The twinkling lights, vibrant colors, and festive spirit create a magical atmosphere that brings a smile to my face, even on the most depressing of days.
Every year, I make it a point to visit Scentsy Commons as often as I can during the holidays, especially when I’m in Idaho. The display, which begins in mid-November and continues until early January, is a sight to behold. It’s not just about the lights; it’s about the memories I’ve created here with family and friends. I cherish the laughter, the warmth of shared moments, and the simple joy of being together.
However, this year feels different. As I walk through the illuminated pathways, I can’t help but think of my mother. I miss her deeply, especially during the holiday season. She adored the lights at Scentsy Commons and the last time we experienced this wonder together was in 2020—the final holidays we spent side by side. Those memories are etched in my heart and while the joy of the season surrounds me, there’s an undeniable ache of loss.
I often find myself looking up at the dazzling lights, imagining her smile and laughter echoing in the crisp winter air. I know she’s watching over me, visiting in spirit, reminding me to embrace the beauty of life and the love that still surrounds me. The holidays can be bittersweet, but they also serve as a reminder of the importance of love and happiness we hold dear.
In fact, in the midst of my sorrow, I have come to realize that Christmas is not just about the lights or the festivities; it’s about the love we share and the memories we create. It’s a time to appreciate life, to gather with those who are important, and to celebrate the bonds that transcend even the toughest of times. This holiday season, I choose to honor my mother’s memory by embracing the spirit of Christmas and spreading love and joy to those around me.
So, as I stand here at Scentsy Commons, surrounded by the beauty of the season, I am reminded that while loss is a part of life, so is love. And in that love, we find the strength to carry on, to cherish the moments we have, and to create new memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to a Scentsy Commons Christmas—one filled with light, love, and the enduring spirit of those we hold close to our hearts.
