I am a great boss because I am not your friend

Today is Boss Day hence why I am writing about this today. You see, as a boss, I have experienced some of the greatest work environments in my life; however, my work ethic has always remained the same. And because of this, I have been relatively successful.

When it comes to being a boss, it is so important to embrace the virtue of communicating effectively. It is extremely important to have effective communication skills, especially in the workplace. Without communication in the workplace, there is no production, and without production, there is no success.

Another important quality that I have embraced over the year is listening to my employees. Listening is one of the most important qualities any great boss should have.  But, the real question is - what else makes a boss great? Here are a few things I have discovered within myself that have not only helped me and my employees, but my overall work environment.

Macro-managing. Micromanaging embodies workplace bullying at its finest. Therefore, it is quite malicious. I am a great boss because I refuse to do it. In order to have an effective team, kicking someone when they are down is never the answer and will never solve any problem, let alone any trial or tribulation they are enduring. Building a person up is crucial because you have to make them want to work for you.

Empower and Empathize. Going back to the previous, it is key to make your employees realize their worth in any business environment. I invest my time in empowering my team, not rejecting them. One of the most problematic issues that occur in workplaces today are that some leaders focus on being negative and critical without a hint of positivity and encouragement. Since day one I believe the key to being a great leader is to have a strong decorum and ability to empathize with a worker.

Optimism. In order to be a great boss, one must be open-minded yet optimistic. Sure I possess self-awareness, as any effective leader should, but I am also relatively universal in terms of decision making and look at every situation fully rather than one dimensionally. Keeping an open mind is always important because you represent the business, so it is important to remain optimistic at all times.

Encourage Strengths. Don't blame your employees if they make a mistake. Encourage them to do better. Pick them up when they fall. It is important to recognize the strengths over the weaknesses. I believe in order to develop a successful team and an overall integrated business plan, you must recognize a worker's individual strength and morale. And if there is room for improvement, it is important to tactfully work with them to strive better.

Put out Fires Quickly. I believe in addressing problems instantaneously before they become a major issue. Without addressing the obvious problem before it turns into an even greater issue, you'll never find a real solution. It is important to extinguish the fire quick before it takes over the office.

Love the Job. This is the key to being a great boss and leader. To possess the experience, education and skills to complete the job is one thing, but to actually love your job - well, that love triumphs everything. In order to be a great boss you have to love what you do or you're never going to be successful.

Avoid Personal Friendships. I am a great boss because I am not your friend. When it comes to establishing a strong work ethic with a team of hard workers, I never mix business with pleasure. When you are working, it should always be about business and nothing else.

Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture

Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture
Introduced in 2008 by Juicy Couture, this fruity floral fragrance proves why it is one of the best selling perfumes of all time. Viva La Juicy is infused with just the right amount of notes to give this acquired scent the recognition it needs. But the main question is: what do I think about this fragrance?

PROS

When I first smell Viva La Juicy, I can definitely smell a warm note. It reminds me of vanilla yet cocoa with a hint of praline, sugar, and caramel. The gourmand scents are evident, but not like some of their other fragrances. The next notes I detect are more fruity than anything else. A combination of berries. I can smell a hint of blueberry yet a hint of blackberry. As I continue smelling this amazing fragrance, I can pick up quite a few floral notes which are modestly faint, but hold the fragrance together. I can definitely smell honeysuckle followed by gardenia.

I can detect a little bit of citrus, but it's very mild. I can pick up on a few other floral notes. I am not sure what they are, but I am guessing a fusion of amber and jasmine. I can also smell somewhat of a woody note. I am going guess sandalwood; however, I could be wrong. In all actuality, this acquired smell is one of the best smells I have discovered yet.

The bottle includes the Juicy Couture label which is very classy yet stylish. It is accented with a bright pink/fuchsia bow which makes it cute. It is also eye catching and when you are done with the fragrance, you could spray it with some glitter blast and it would make an excellent bedroom accessory (just an idea).

Back to this fragrance. I have to say, one thing that was very evident was how long this perfume lasted. After working an 8 hour day, I noticed that I could still smell this fragrance on me. The scent life and longevity is quite decent which I truly enjoy. I've tried so many fragrances and you wouldn't believe how many perfumes smell amazing, but do not last long.

The sillage is not overpowering, which is nice. It's enough to get compliments more than anything. And a little goes a very long way.

CONS

If you are into musky scents or prefer powdery, aromatic, woody, aldehydic, spicy, or even leather notes you are not going to like this fragrance. If you are into fresh or clean fragrances that possess more earthy notes that are more animalistic or smoky, I don't see you finding this fragrance appealing.

If you are looking for an extremely sweet fruity fragrance or something that morphs tropical and citrus into the blend, I don't think you may find Viva La Juicy interesting.

RATING: 93%

Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy is available at FragranceNET for $50.19. The Viva La Juicy set by Juicy Couture which offers the fragrance plus a smaller sized body lotion and shower gel is also available for $63.19. Would I use this fragrance again? Yes. In fact, I just sprayed some as I am typing this. I absolutely love it! Would I recommend this fragrance to a friend? Absolutely. Especially to those that love fruity yet floral scents.

My top 5 favorite nude lipsticks by MAC Cosmetics

From left to right: Myth, Fleshpot, Close Contact, Viva Glam II, and Crème d' Nude.

About the lipsticks...

Myth is simply a light nude with a satin finish. It's neutral, which I love. This is one of my favorite nudes by MAC because it works fantastic with my skin tone.

Fleshpot is best described as a pastel pink-beige. It's very faint and possesses a satin finish. I love the color payoff of this particular nude, as it simply works.

Close Contact is not as nude as the other lipsticks, but I enjoy it because it is a stunning amplified peach shade. This lipstick is limited edition, however; I am hoping that MAC decides to include this particular shade as a permanent selection.

Viva Glam II is simply a nude mauve shade with a satin finish. As one of MAC's best selling lipsticks since it's release in 1997, this is clearly one of the best nude lipsticks by Makeup Artist Cosmetics to date.

Crème d' Nude is what I would called a creamy warm nude. Almost like a pastel peach with a hint of beige. The finish is different from the prior lipsticks I have mentioned as it's more than a creamsheen finish.
