Having followed a vegetarian lifestyle for two decades, I’ve sampled an extensive variety of veggie burgers, allowing me to witness firsthand the evolution of plant-based options in the market. My introduction to Beyond Meat occurred in 2014, but I tried their brand for the first time in 2015. The launch of their veggie burger piqued my curiosity and I felt compelled to try it. The anticipation of tasting a product that promised to revolutionize the experience of plant-based burgers was exhilarating and I was eager to evaluate how it compared to the numerous alternatives I had tried over the years.
Nearly a decade later, my admiration for the Beyond Meat brand remains steadfast. Their burgers boast a distinctive blend of smokiness and charcoal flavor that is truly unparalleled. This perfect amalgamation allows me to savor the delicious taste of flame-grilled goodness while cooking in the comfort of my kitchen. Preparing and enjoying these burgers brings me immense satisfaction, as they capture the essence of outdoor grilling without requiring me to step outside—though I must admit I have a fondness for my charcoal grill.
Each Beyond Burger patty contains a modest 230 calories, making it a satisfying yet health-conscious choice. It provides 14 grams of fat and a substantial 20 grams of protein, along with 3.9 grams of sodium and 7 grams of carbohydrates. Additionally, the burgers are enriched with essential nutrients, including 1 gram of calcium, 3.3 grams of potassium, 4 mg of iron, and various B vitamins, all while being non-GMO, soy-free, kosher, and gluten-free. This thoughtful formulation makes them suitable for individuals with diverse dietary restrictions and allows everyone to enjoy a nutritious, plant-based burger without compromising health.
Personally, I find the flavor of these burgers exceptional, attributable to their unique combination of smoky and charcoal-grilled characteristics. The balance of smokiness and charcoal make them so appealing. When cooked on the stovetop, they effectively replicate the taste and texture of char-grilled products, enabling me to enjoy outdoor flavor without leaving my kitchen. Recently, cooking them on my charcoal grill elevated the flavor profile even further, intensifying their deliciousness.
For optimal results, I recommend thawing the burgers prior to cooking, although preparing them from frozen also yields satisfactory outcomes. In my experience, the burgers cook more quickly and evenly when thawed. When prepared from a frozen state, they take longer to cook and may occasionally not be cooked through adequately. Whether you choose to cook indoors or outdoors, these burgers provide a flavorful experience that is hard to match.
Overall, I consider Beyond Meat burgers to be outstanding for a plant-based alternative. While they may not be my ultimate favorite as those accolades belong to the burgers I created and crafted with my mother in the late 2010’s, who passed away several years ago in the early 2020’s—Beyond Meat’s offering certainly occupies a place among my top ten.
I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone adhering to a vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian, or generally plant-based diet, as well as to those simply seeking a delicious burger experience. Their flavor, texture, and nutritional benefits make them an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying meal that aligns with their dietary preferences.
