As a five-time Grammy award winner, Shania Twain is clearly the Queen of Country pop music. As a pioneer of the country crossover genre, Twain is one of the greatest artists ever in music. Selling over 75 million albums world-wide, her album "Come On Over" sold over 15 million copies alone making it the #1 album by any female country artist ever and the best-selling album by any female artist.

I have been a fan of Shania Twain since a child. Her music is very inspiring and uplifting and really brings something new and unique to music. Without Shania Twain, many artists such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood would have never had the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world.

Announced today by CMT, Shania Twain will be honored. She will be the first female artist in history to receive the prestigious "Artist of a Lifetime" award. Previous winners of this award include Kenny Rodgers and Merle Haggard who were awarded in 2014 and 2015.

Taped live at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the 7th annual “CMT Artists of the Year” will feature once-in-a-lifetime performances, unexpected tributes and unforgettable toasts as the biggest stars of music, film and television gather to celebrate the five artists selected by Country Music Television as the best artists of 2016.

CMT Artists of the Year will premiere Thursday, October 20, 2016. For more information visit CMT today. #CMTAOTY
