Music Talk: Exclusive Interview with Sworn Enemy

Sworn Enemy is a hardcore band from the big apple. Recently, I had the opportunity to talk to Sal Lococo, the lead vocalist of the band about the music, Living On Borrowed Time, and Eminem. And here is what he had to say...

(Q) Hello Sal. How are you? Tell me a little more about Sworn Enemy…

Hi Sarah! I'm doing good how about yourself? Well to be honest their really isn't too much to tell about the band. We play really fast, aggressive, brutal music that you can get a good workout too lol. The band is based out of NY, we've been around for 15 years. Not sure if there is too much to say about us.

(Q) I have to ask, what influenced you to create Sworn Enemy? Tell me a little more about the inspiration behind the band…

Sworn Enemy wasn't something that was planned, it was more like something that just happened. In the beginning we were more about going to the studio to drink and have fun and one thing lead to another and we are playing shows . People seemed to really dig it, so we kinda rolled with it. Like I said there really wasn't any inspiration behind the band. Maybe 40's of old English and to just have fun was the inspiration behind the band back then, LOL.

(Q) Living On Borrowed Time is an excellent album. How is this album different than the previous albums?

Thank you! I'm glad you think its an excellent album. The biggest difference in this album from all of the ones in the past is that Lorenzo didn't write the music. Him and I were together for every record except this one. I feel this one will always have a special place for me since most everyone thought the band was done.

(Q) Do you have any plans of touring the United States?

The touring will start May 17th (Saturday) right after we play Black N Blue bowl. We will head out on a full Canada and US tour with Silence the Messenger.

(Q) Music is all about experimenting. Sometimes it helps to take risks. I have to ask, have you ever considered collaborating with another genre?

It has crossed my mind but in order for me to try something like that I would truly have to like whatever it is that i will be collaborating on or else it just won't work for me.

(Q) If you could work with any artist or band right now, who would you work with and why?

If I could work with anyone I would say Eminem. He is at the top of the food chain when it comes to Hip Hop and if I'm gonna work with anybody it has to be the best since I'm such a perfectionist in all that I do. I'm pretty sure he would be the same way.

(Q) For all of those hardcore music fans reading this interview, including your fans, what would you like them to know about Sworn Enemy? What is next for Sworn Enemy?

Sworn Enemy is here and we ain't going anywhere so go pick up the new record out May 17th on RockRidge records. Thanks for the interview Sarah!
