Friday Fives is a movement created by bloggers which allow the blogger to connect with their audience by choosing and answering five random questions. Even though the questions can be anything, they are usually related to a certain topic or correlate with each other.
Sometimes they are unrelated and are chosen by a creator of a link-up. 'The Friday Five' on LiveJournal is a very interested link-up which has been around for quite a while. Although they are active and have been for at least a decade, their last post was on Valentine's Day of this year. Their questions are relatively simple and rarely relate to one another.
You have independent bloggers who create their own original 'Friday Five' lists, just as 'I Am Correct' did on Wordpress, where every single question and answer is connected to one topic. I think that is what I want to do right now.
Inspired by my love for food and for India, I have narrowed down the many Indian dishes I love, to only a few. I will talk about 5 favorite Indian dishes for today's Friday Fives. Indian cuisine is huge and even more extensive than American cuisine. With so many spices, including many you cannot find here in the USA, there are many foods to complement them. So, what are my top 5 favorite Indian dishes?
1. Paneer Butter Masala (If I had to choose my favorite Indian dish, this would be it.)
2. Paneer Paratha
3. Malai Kofta
4. Vegetable Dhansak
5. Mushroom and Coconut Curry Masala
Honorable Mention(s): Gajar Ka Halwa, Kadai Paneer, Mushroom Do Pyaza, Chapatis, Vada Pav, Mag Dhokli, Palak Paneer, Dosa, Pachadi, Dahi Vada, and Kadhi Pakoda.
My top favorite sweet dishes from India include:
1. Besan Ladoo (If I had to choose my favorite Indian dessert, this would be it.)
2. Gulab Jamun
3. Ras Malai
4. Sohan Papdi
5. Badusha
Honorable Mention(s): Pantua, Keri No Ras, Peda, Modak, Jalebi, Ghari, Malpua, Chhena Gaja, Mishti Doi, and Doodhpak.
Of course no Indian dish is complete without a drink to compliment it. My top 5 favorite drinks to compliment my top 5 favorite Indian dishes and sweet dishes are:
1. Masala Chai Tea (If I had to choose my favorite Indian drink, this would be it.)
2. Lassi (I am a huge fan of the mango lassi, but do enjoy the rose)
3. Badam Milk
4. Thandai
5. Jigarthanda
Honorable Mention(s): Chai with Cream, Irani Chai, Shir Chai, Nariyel Pani, Sweet Mint Lassi, Sharbat, Makkhaniya Lassi, Sharja Shake, Aam Pana, Kanji, Sugarcane Juice, and Kesar Milk.
I have yet to try every single Indian dish, but my goal is to try them and learn how to make most of them. Now, it is your turn. What are your top 5 favorite Indian dishes? And if you have never tried Indian food, what are your top 5 favorite Indian dishes you would like to try? #FridayFive
Today I have to work from 9 am until 5 pm, so I think I will probably log off for the time being. Thank you for reading. TGIF! I hope you are having a wonderful day.
