A Gingerbread Christmas Movie

A Gingerbread Christmas Movie

Tonight, I made one of my favorite drinks ever—eggnog and a batch of gingerbread sugar cookies. And nothing beats diving into the delightful world of a Christmas movie called A Gingerbread Christmas, which is aired on this date a few years ago. Starring the lovely Tiya Sicar as Hazel, the film follows her heartwarming journey home for the holidays, where she crosses paths with James, a charming handyman played by Marc Bendavid. It’s worth noting that Marc, who is openly gay in real life, does an outstanding job portraying a straight man in this film, bringing a genuine warmth to his character.

As I watch, I can’t help but feel a bittersweet twinge in my heart. Not cringe, but twinge. Every single year during this time is always a little tough for me, especially since my mom passed away on October 1st 2021. The holiday season is filled with memories of her laughter and the joy she brought to my life. Yet, there’s something about a good Christmas movie that always manages to lift my spirits, even if just for a little while. The festive music and cheerful scenes create a cozy atmosphere that feels like a warm hug.

So far, A Gingerbread Christmas has all the classic romantic yet cheesy vibes that we love from Hallmark movies. While it’s not technically a Hallmark film, it certainly has that same joyful essence that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Honestly, they should consider adding a Hallmark genre to their lineup because this film completely fits into that mold.

Adding to the sweetness of the story is Duff Goldman, the amazing cake master from Maryland, who plays Mark Clemmons. His presence adds an extra layer of fun and creativity, much like the gingerbread creations that are central to the film’s theme.

As I immerse myself in this festive tale, I’ve decided to paint some ornaments to hang on my tree. Each brushstroke is a way to channel my emotions and keep the holiday spirit alive, even amidst the sadness. It’s a whimsical blend of joy and nostalgia, a reminder that while the holidays may feel different now, there’s still magic to be found.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Whether you’re watching a Christmas movie or spending time with loved ones, I hope you find joy and warmth this season. Here’s to cherishing the memories while embracing the new traditions we create along the way.
