Today, I heard about the sad news of Luke Perry today while at work. Then, I went on Twitter to check and see what others were saying in regards to his death. As you may or may not be already aware, Luke Perry died today at the age of 52. After suffering from a stroke, many thought he would have recovered. Sadly, he lost his battle today.
Luke Perry was a part of my childhood, as I grew up watching him on Beverly Hills 90210. He played the role as Dylan McKay, a mysterious rebel who was introverted yet had a kind spirit to befriend virtually everyone he knew. He had more of a "bad boy image" which was portrayed amazingly by Luke Perry.
I was about 9 years old when Beverly Hills 90210 first aired. I watched it from the beginning in late 1990 until the end in 2000, when I was 19. And although I was busy during college, I always had the opportunity to watch the show as someone I knew would also watch it and would record it.
When you think of someone or something that is part of your childhood, you are reminded of it when it is brought up. And as much as you think you can forget, it would take an entire lifetime to do so. Today, I was reminded of mine when I heard about the passing of Luke Perry. Although I don't watch much television anymore, I remember Beverly Hills 90210 like yesterday and being a little girl and looking forward to every single episode that would air that week.
My prayers go out to his family. Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace.
