Dakota Johnson blew up the spotlight for the 2016 Met Gala. The Fifty Shades of Grey star stunned the red carpet Monday evening in an 80's inspired Gucci dress. If you can envision David Bowie meets Debbie Harry with part romance, that is the look Johnson revealed at the event. Johnson teamed up with celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff for a fabulous makeup look to complement the Met Gala theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology using only Laura Mercier products.

“The look tonight was all about the eye–a pop of green color and glitter,” Pati Dubroff shared about the makeup look. “A nod to something outer worldly.” Dubroff then said, “Dakota takes impeccable care of her skin and is always well hydrated, so in one regard my job is really easy. The eyes are the main focus for Dakota’s beauty look tonight.”

So, is it possible to re-create this fabulous makeup look? Absolutely.

First and foremost, you are going to want to prep the skin. For this look, Dubroff used the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer throughout Johnson's t-zone. This ensures that her makeup lasts a longtime throughout the night. Starting at the center of the face, Dubroff applied the Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation in Dune. “I worked the foundation in moving toward the perimeter, concentrating on areas that need more coverage and bypassing areas on face that did not,” Dubroff shared.

As the look continued, the celebrity makeup artist applied the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in SC-3. This product ensures no redness or blemishes. Taking the Surratt Artistique Blush in Parfait, Dubroff blended this product on the apples of the Fifty Shades of Grey star's cheeks. This creates a stunning rosy flush. As she continued, she swirled the Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Devotion over the top of Johnson's cheeks for a slight sheen.

For the eyes, Dubroff first lined Johnson's upper lash line and lower corner with Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Black Ebony. Dubroff then applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Peacock on the inner rim and slightly over the black liner. This gives Johnson's eyes a pop of bold green color. To further intensify Johnson's stunning green look, Dubroff added a touch of MAC Fluidline in Ivy to the inner rim.

Johnson has gorgeous eyes and to make them sparkle, Dubroff applied the Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Petal Pink to the inner corner and lid. She, then, added a dash of green glitter to the lid. To finish Johnson's eyes, Dubroff applied a pair of Ardell Demi Wispies Black False Eyelashes followed by a coat of black mascara.

To complete the entire makeup look, Dubroff used Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Petal Pink. This works to create “sweet pink lip” which complements Johnson's pop of green theme.

Congratulations! You have just re-created Dakota Johnson's makeup look at the 2016 Met Gala.
