In My Defence by Sarah Afshar

When I first heard this song, I was literally floored. I was watching a Freddie Mercury documentary many years ago. The documentary featured a lot of songs that were not so popular, as they were part of Freddie's solo album. In fact, they played excerpts of Mr. Bad Guy. I discovered this song when listening to the album and have loved it ever since.

The song is just a beautiful ballad with a lot of rock and soul to make it roll. It is one of my favorite songs by Freddie. You know me, I just had to record this one on Smule. I originally recorded this as a duet back in January with another Smule user. You can listen to that recording here. Tonight, I recorded the song solo.

To listen to my rendition of "In My Defence" just watch (or listen) to the video above. If you cannot hear it, simply click here now. And BTW, I recorded this using my iPhone straight from the Smule app.

Radio Ga Ga by Sarah Afshar

All we hear is Radio Ga Ga! Radio, what's new? Someone still loves you! Yes, I decided to record this song again on Smule. This time I used the Super Pop filter. I am not sure what I think of the effect.

I recorded the song originally back in January with on a light studio filter. You can listen to that recording here.

To listen to my recording of Radio Ga Ga by Queen simply watch the video above. If the video doesn't play, just click here to listen. Do you know anyone who doesn't love this song?

The Show Must Go On by Sarah Afshar

I remember when I first heard this song. I was a little girl just sitting in her bedroom, working on her homework when "The Show Must Go On" by Queen played on the radio. I have always been a Queen fan; however, this song was different than the usual songs they performed.

It was a very robust uptempo ballad with an innuendo that really sent a message. Little did I realize that I would discover this song was about Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest singers, songwriters and performers ever on earth and his final days.

I decided to go record this tonight on Smule

To listen to my rendition of The Show Must Go (originally by Queen) simply watch/listen to the video above. If you cannot see it, simply click here now.

We Are The Champions by Sarah Afshar

Smule is definitely one of my favorite apps right now. If I feel like singing and recording it, I can simply click on the app and record virtually everything from my phone. Especially when you have a VIP membership which only costs $20 a month.

I decided to record "We Are The Champions" this evening by the amazing band Queen. This is one of the greatest tunes to exist, as it is played at virtually every major sporting event. The song really sends a true message about never giving up and if you continue to fight, you will always be the winner, the champion in the end.

If you cannot see the video, simply click here to listen to me sing this song. Listen with headphones. And yes, I recorded this from my phone.

Bohemian Rhapsody (Short Version) by Sarah Afshar

I am once again on Smule. I think I am really starting to fall in love with this app. If you love music and love to sing, you need to download it. I am recording everything straight from my iPhone. It is literally one of my favorite apps right now.

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard in my life. I've been a fan of Queen practically my entire life. I remember listening to them when I was four years ago. This song came out before I was born yet I just love and appreciate it so much.

If you cannot see the video, just click here to listen to my rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Keep in mind that this is the short version of the song. Remember to listen to this song using headphones, as I recorded it from my phone wearing headphones.

Who Wants To Live Forever by Sarah Afshar

Smule is becoming a favorite app of mine. It is my second day of using the app. I am currently on day two of my free trial. So far I am loving it, as I love the fact that I can record something directly from my phone without any recording equipment present. Amazing right? I took the liberty of recording the song "Who Wants To Live Forever" by Queen.

Written by Brian May, this song is beautiful in many ways; however, it is a very dark song too as it depicts a state of depression. Obviously depression is serious and not something I wish anyone would have to go through, but I can relate to this song in many ways as I have been there myself. If you cannot see the video, simply click here right now. Remember to listen to this with headphones.

Top 10 Christmas songs of all time

I love music and can appreciate every single band and artist under the sun, which is why it was a lot harder than you think to create this top-10 list of Christmas songs. There were quite a few that I contemplated adding, as there were a few that I wanted to add. Evidently those would have made another top list that was longer in length. Either way you put it, Christmas is approaching in just a few days so what better way to enjoy this amazing day with wonderful music. Here are my top 10 favorite Christmas songs of all time

What are your top 10 favorite Christmas songs of all time? I would really love to know. Happy Holidays!

Today Is Freddie Mercury's Birthday

Happy Birthday Farrokh Bulsara! In my opinion, there is no other artist in the world like Freddie. He had the voice, the artistry, the personality, and the charisma. His style and image was one thing, however, every time he opened his mouth, you knew it was him singing and as a result, he had unbelievable projection because he made you believe what he was singing about. Freddie delivered vocally through every single performance.

If I had to choose my top 10 favorite songs by Freddie Mercury/Queen, I really couldn't, however; my favorites right now include:

In My Defence
Bohemian Rhapsody
Who Wants To Live Forever
The Show Must Go On
I Want To Break Free
Barcelona
There Must Be More To Life Than This
It's Late
Mr. Bad Guy
Thank God It's Christmas
Deliliah
The March Of The Black Queen
Princes Of the Universe
Living On My Own
Foolin' Around
Radio Ga Ga
Liar
Funny How Love Is
A Kind Of Magic
Save Me
Let's Turn It On
Somebody To Love
We Are The Champions
You And I
Don't Try Suicide
It's A Hard Life
Jesus
Under Pressure

You may be gone, but you are never going to be forgotten in this life time. Happy Birthday Freddie!
